CCW MA Residency - Joya, Cortijada Los Gázquez 16-23 April 10/04/11
I'm shortly leading a residency to Joya, Cortijada Los Gázquez, for 9 CCW MA students. We've already had 2 preparatory seminars - a workshop with Brave New Alps on collaboration, and one with Louise Short on working site specifically.
Here's the project outline:
For one week 9 MA Fine Art students from Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Art will undertake an intensive period of research and development at Cortijada Los Gázquez focusing on what site specificity, sustainability and collaboration can mean to the artist in the context of rural Almeria. Participants will extend their normal practice into a new environment, developing site based research skills, whilst at the same time exploring the collaborative potential of being in a group, working with a shared space and shared resources. A week of practical experimentation, alongside workshops and critical discussion will lead to proposals for site-based works (which may or may not be realised in the future.)
Further information can be found here.

The Future Is Social 14/03/11
For the past few months I've been working with Sonia Boyce to set up The Future Is Social. An artists residency at Flat Time House (which I'll also be participating in) starts next week and will involve 16 postgraduate students at CCW spending 2 weeks exploring the production of art through collaboration and participation. There will be an opening evening at Flat Time House on Friday 26th March (6-8pm) and the residency will culminate in a public symposium at Camberwell College on Friday 8th April.
For further information, to follow the project blog and/or book tickets for the symposium click here.
