Hair Cultures presents a snapshot of the city via a days worth of haircuts (gathered on 4 July 2008). The installation maps hair collected from 60 hairdressers within a square km of Barcelona (crossing Raval, Barrio Gotico and Borne) on to the original storage units of El Colmado Cultural Centre. The resulting work is interactive, allowing people to explore the city, and their local area, via the medium of hair. Each hairdresser is represented by a sample of hair set in resin, small enough to pick up and examine, and corresponding to a point on a map.
