HAIR CULTURES (2008)
An installation at El Colmado Cultural Centre, Ravel, Barcelona, Spain. (400 x 300 x 90cm)
To create a representative snapshot of Barcelona at a particular moment in time I collected discarded hair from 60 hairdressers (cut within a 24 hour period, on 4 July 2008) from the central km of the city. A sample from each hairdresser was then set in resin and mapped on to the old storage drawers of the Cultural Centre. This enabled an interactive exploration of different neighbourhoods via the city's unwanted hair.
